For one, it features dual protagonists and a non-linear story campaign.
Somehow, Remedy actually finds a way to tie this into the main plot.
This isnt a Resident Evil 2 situation where youre playing two variations of the same story.
Their stories intertwine often and culminate altogether, but also stand apart in the best of ways.
Control was good-looking, but it wasnt jaw-dropping quite like this.
A tall order, but satisfyingly implemented in gameplay.
Early on in the game for example, the game gave me the murder victims heart as a clue.

Are you watching a movie or playing a videogame?
One last point I want to hit on in this review: live-action sequences.
Alan Wake 2 pushes Remedys live-action sequences further.
Sadly, the game does drop the ball a little in technical performance.
The games remarkable visual fidelity was more significantly marred by frequent shimmering during gameplay.

It has meaningful things to say about the nature of fiction and my personal nightmare: writers block.
