President of Russia Vladimir Putinreportedly wants a homegrown gaming console to rival Steam, PlayStation and Xbox.
One of these instructions is to create a gaming entertainment ecosystem from scratch locally.
Each of these would be an ambitious task in and of itself, but Putin wants the whole shebang.
In fact, it might be totally unfeasible.
Even then, the tech they would come up with would lag behind international standards by 10-15 years.
There’s a lot to unpack here.
What platform would sell them?
Would they run international software, or be limited to whatever Russian developers produce locally?
