They have come a long way since the Challengers Stage to be in the Champions Stage. The second IEM Rio Major quarterfinal match sawCloud9go up againstMOUZin their bid for the semi-finals. Who will emerge victorious? The series started with Inferno. Cloud9 continued their dominance as they racked up the wins to eventually win the map 16-11 by round 27. Overpass saw MOUZ rise back up after the loss on the first map....

The boys from the Virtus.pro organization showed that they are at the top of their game. The first match in the quarterfinals was betweenOutsidersandFnatic.

The first map was Ancient. Outsiders ended the match by round 26, with a score of 16-10. After the loss on the first map, MOUZ was eager to rectify that problem.

They defeated Heroic in spectacular fashion. Two debutant teams made it to the grand final of the IEM Rio Major. The final series of the Major began on Mirage, where both teams started strong. Outsiders had the early lead, but Heroic managed to catch up by round 6. Outsiders continued to press on in the second map, Overpass, where they dominated the first half. They decimated Heroics defences to end the first half with a 9-point lead, leaving Heroic in the dust....

Bad News Eagles, Team Vitality and Sprout are sadly out of the tournament. MOUZmet up withOutsidersin their High group match. On Vertigo, Heroic easily led the narrative and won the first map without too much trouble. Outsiders, Fnatic and Heroic qualified for the Champions stage with these wins. The first meetup for the Low group matches wasNAVIversusBad News Eagles. NAVI easily steamrolled the Kosovan team in Ancient, with a 16-3 win....

Cloud9 and FURIA are the first teams in the Champions Stage. Rio is rolling with surprises as Day 6 of the IEM Rio Major concludes. Heroicmet up withCloud9in the first High group match. Cloud9 became the first team to qualify for Champions Stage. FURIA,meanwhile, met up with German giantBIGin their High group match.
