But while EDG have clearly been the top dogs of China, they have struggled against international competition. EDG defeated BLG, 2-1, to lock up a Top 3 finish and a spot in VALORANT Champions. FunPlus Phoenix FPX were squarely the second best team in the Chinese league this season. It remains to be seen if they will be able to do that....

A new dark horse has entered the playoffs. EDG was unstoppable for the most part with T1 only getting four diffuses off. However, the Korean org was able to rally itself to a four-round win streak.

EDward Gaming extinguish its demons against Paper Rex. This threw EDG off but it did enough for PRX to take the following three rounds in a row. EDG would win just once more before PRX went on a six-round win streak. That streak also saw Ilya Something Petrov pick up a clean 4K in the seventh round with the Op. PRX then went on to take the next two rounds after the break to put them up 11-3....

The heavy fan-favorites finished the tournament with an almost flawless run. This will be the second attempt of EDward Gaming in bagging the VCT Champions title. Their first attempt was underwhelming as they failed to qualify for the playoffs. EDward Gaming finally drew the attention of the VALORANT community during theVCT Masters Tokyo. The Chinese team was lauded by fans for their impressive plays and clever tactics. The team ended in the top six and their run featured impressive upsets against powerhouse teams like NAVI....

LOUD only dropped five rounds in two maps against EDward Gaming. That was also the total score EDG had after both games against LOUD. EDG only managed two rounds in the first game and it looked grim for the number seed from China. To add further insult to injury, the second map was taking place on LOUD’s choice of Sunset. And they showed just why with a clean defence on the pistol round....

EDward Gaming lives to fight another day after an all-China match-up against Bilibili Gaming. That win puts EDG into the lower bracket quarterfinals and will live to fight another day. And this was kickstarted by Wan “CHICHOO” Shunzhi with a clutch on the opening pistol round. However, BLG had other ideas. The second map was a tightly-contested match of two halves. In the first, it was BLG who had all the momentum, winning eight of the 12 rounds....

Game four at Icebox saw both teams trade runs all throughout the first half. However, FPX mounted a furious comeback by winning six-straight rounds to get within 12-8 after round 20. But despite FPX’s best efforts, EDG finally scored their 13th round after that to secure their victory.

Not many expected EDG to be in the title fight this year either. In their inexorable march to the world championship, the Chinese juggernauts only lost one match. Despite getting knocked down to the lower bracket, Heretics thrived under the pressure of constant threat of elimination. The do-or-die game four at Bind kicked off with Heretics scoring the first two rounds as the defender side. Both teams then traded rounds until back-to-back wins in rounds 9 and 10 gave Heretics the lead at 6-4....
